SCRIPTURE TEXTS: Ezekiel 1-3, 8-11, 37-39, 40-48
Last of the three major “writing prophets” of the Old Testament, Ezekiel was a prophet whose visions & encounters prove particularly vivid albeit often challenging to our understanding. Yet careful examination of Ezekiel’s book reveals pivotal details of God’s character & care for His people. Ezekiel’s name can be translated as “God is strong” or “God strengthens.” In Ezekiel’s varied visions of God’s visitations & of His divine plan for the establishment of His holy Presence among His people, we gain insight & inspiration for promises of redemption & restoration from even the most devastating of circumstances, like dry bones filled again with the breath of God, resurrected by the Spirit of the Lord to fully-fleshed, vigorous life.
