The Vision of ISAIAH

SCRIPTURE TEXTS: Isaiah 1:1; 6:1-13

Isaiah stands as one of God’s greatest prophets of all time. Chapter 6 of his book provides the initiation scene of his prophetic career, when the Lord granted this “man of unclean lips” who lived “among a people of unclean lips” (Isaiah 6:5) a purging, purifying vision of the absolute holiness of the Lord, “high & lifted up” enthroned in the glory of His Temple. It was from this divine vision that Isaiah received his divine calling. Through his account, we, too, are called to come before the Lord in His holiness, readying ourselves through repentance & making ourselves also available to say, like Isaiah, “Here am I—send me” (Isaiah 6:8).
